MAYS LANDING – An admitted serial killer accused of a 1987 killing in Atlantic City is in Atlantic County Jail after being brought in from Ohio, where he is serving multiple life sentences for killing six women there.

Dellmus Colvin, 51, waived extradition last month to return to Atlantic County and face the new charges against him, which include a murder indictment.

Donna Lee White, 27, was found dead Sept. 15, 1987, in a vacant parking lot near the old Garwood Mills site in Atlantic City. The death was initially ruled acute cocaine intoxication, with Colvin charged with hindering apprehension and tampering with evidence.

Last year, after learning that Colvin was being investigated for killings in Toledo, Ohio, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Major Crimes Unit traveled there and got enough evidence to indict Colvin for strangling White.

In 2006, the long-haul truck driver was on trial in Ohio for killing two women when he admitted to those killings and three others in an attempt to avoid the death penalty. He later admitted to a sixth killing.

All the women were strangled and reportedly worked as prostitutes to feed their drug addictions. It was not clear whether White — who had a lethal amount of cocaine in her system — also worked as a prostitute.

Colvin will appear in Atlantic County Superior Court 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 5th.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — A man, who in 2006 confessed to killing five women in Northwest Ohio between 2000 and 2005, has been indicted in a 1987 Atlantic City murder.

Dellmus Colvin was originally charged with killing Melissa Weber, 37, and Jackie Simpson, 33, both of Toledo. According to prosecutors, both were prostitutes addicted to crack cocaine. Weber was murdered in 2003 and Simpson in 2005.

As the trial neared its end, Coleman offered to plead guilty to the Weber and Simpson murders as well as the murders of three other prostitutes. In exchange, prosecutors agreed to not seek the death penalty.

Now prosecutors in Mays Landing, NJ believe that Colvin is responsible for the murder of a woman in their city in 1987. Colvin was a suspect in the murder of Donna Lee White 23 years ago, but the coroner eventually ruled the cause of death to be cocaine toxicity. However, when police learned that Colvin had been convicted in Toledo, they reopened the case.

Colvin is currently serving a life sentence in the Toledo Correctional Institution. He will be eligible for parole in 2072.
