Tapes Might Prove More Manson Family Murders

LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles police detectives are seeking to review old audio tapes of conversations between Manson Family member Charles “Tex” Watson and his former lawyer, hoping they will shed light on any additional murders the cult may have committed.

The eight hours of recorded discussions between Watson and attorney Bill Boyd were made more than 40 years ago and have surfaced as a part of a bankruptcy case involving Boyd’s now-defunct Texas law firm.

“We are trying to get our hands on a copy of those recordings,” Los Angeles police commander Andrew Smith told Reuters on Friday. “We are doing this to be extraordinarily thorough. We think it’s good police work to continue to pay attention to these cases.”

Smith said the recordings were made in 1969 or 1970, following Watson’s arrest for murders carried out at the direction of Charles Manson that were among the 20th century’s most infamous crimes.

But detectives had no access to the tapes until Watson, now 66 and serving a life prison term in California, waived his attorney-client privilege so that they could be sold to satisfy unpaid legal fees. Boyd died in 2009.

In a letter to a U.S. Department of Justice trustee obtained by local KNBC-TV, Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck requested that the recordings be given to his detectives.

“The LAPD has information that Mr. Watson discussed additional unsolved murders committed by followers of Charles Manson,” Beck said in the March 19 letter.

A bankruptcy court hearing has been scheduled for next week in Plano, Texas, to determine if the tapes should be handed over to Los Angeles police investigators.

I am not so sure that there would be any incriminating information on the tapes since Watson waived his rights. He comes up for parole and knows that they will charge him if they can. Still, he was pretty brain-dead back then and he might not remember all that he said.

We can hope.

Charlie Manson Up For Parole AGAIN

After 11 failed bids for freedom, notorious killer Charles Manson, now 77, is up for parole later this month.

The parole board rejected his bid in 2007, saying Manson  “continues to pose an unreasonable danger to others and may still bring harm to anyone he would come in contact with.”

Manson refused to participate in that hearing, describing himself as a “prisoner of the political system.” He also declined to participate in any psychological evaluations in 2007.

The psych tests would probably be more like filling in a “Mad-Libs”  No, I don’t think Charlie is nuts, I think he has an enormous ego, that he loves to act like the Mad Hatter and he loves the attention it gets him.

“He refused to cooperate, so the conclusion they drew from the reports is he still remains a danger to the public,” Los Angeles County Deputy Dist. Atty. Patrick Sequeira said at the time. “He was convicted of nine horrible murders. He has expressed no remorse or empathy for any of the victims.”

A new photo released by state prison system shows Manson with long, gray hair and a beard. It was released at the request of CNN in advance of next Wednesday’s parole hearing.

Manson was also convicted of the earlier murder of musician Gary Hinman in his Topanga Canyon home, and the slaying of former stuntman Donald “Shorty” Shea at the Spahn movie ranch in Chatsworth, where Manson had his commune.

For those that like say that Manson never actually hurt anyone please read up on these murders.

Manson initially was sentenced to death. A 1972 ruling by the California Supreme Court found the state’s death penalty law at the time unconstitutional and his death sentence was changed in 1977 to life in prison with the possibility of parole.

Why do we keep playing the game? No one is going to let him out and he does not want to get out. This is a waste of tax payer’s money and it is a source of pain for the many lives he effected, infected and destroyed.

I am happy that she only worries about Christ’s forgiveness since so many will never forgive her and many more will never forget.

Manson trying for a new trial

The lawyer says that he does not care about the “details” of the case.

I guess all the dead and injured are just details. I guess all the other people damaged or touched by these crimes are just details that this lawyer does not care about.

He says he cares about the “law”. I call B.S. He does not care about the law, he care about making a name for himself. He is the type of person that would fight for a pedophile to be able to keep his daycare center job on a technicality.

If Manson does get out I say he has to be under house arrest AT this lawyers house! That way not only will he be confined with Charlie, all the disassociated messed up people who are attracted to Manson can go to his home.

To claim that the trial was unfair because Charles Manson did not represent himself is insane. If he had been allowed to that would have been a reason…

I heard that the lawyer is also claiming that because there was no mistrial after the jury learned Nixon said Manson was guilty is another reason Manson deserves a new trial… Manson was the one that showed the jury the headlines! He should NOT benefit from his own bad deeds.

This a shame. The public’s tax money is going towards this and it is ridiculous!

One day I will go into my thoughts and ideas of Charles Manson and his so-called ‘family’.  Let’s just say for now that I believe their original sentences should have been applied!

An interesting article on these crimes.

Quick post.

This video is a little dated but it does offer an insight into the minds of a few serial killers.
The doctor, Dr Orne, is very well informed. It is nice to see a doctor who admits that serial killers are not mentally ill, deserving of treatment and a serious risk if they are ever released.
