Aaron Hernandez

I had seen Aaron Hernandez referred to as a serial killer. My first thought was no, he is just a thug. USA Today thinks along the same line.

If juries ultimately believe what prosecutors and police in Massachusetts allege, former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez isn’t just the man who orchestrated the killing of his friend, Odin Lloyd.

He’s a man who police say killed three people, and tried to kill more.

But this doesn’t necessarily mean Hernandez is a serial killer, said Helen Morrison, a forensic psychiatrist who has done extensive research on some of America’s most notorious killers.

“A serial killer is a person with a very severe lack of personality structure. He’s not a person,” Morrison told USA TODAY Sports prior to two new murder indictments that were made public Thursday. “The serial killer just almost has a sense of continuing to kill as an act. It doesn’t have any motive. It doesn’t have emotion attached to it. It doesn’t fit in the context or anger or revenge or the things that we think people commit homicides for.”

He does not fit into the serial killer profile at all.

“What we see in this guy, Hernandez, is motive. Anger and rage are motive. Whether he thinks he’s being wronged or taken advantage, he’s just going to kill people,” Morrison said. “He just seems to be a guy with a tremendous amount of rage. He doesn’t seem to be psychotic or mentally ill, like a lot of the mass shooters are, just sort of does what he wants to do. ”

Morrison said the fact that Hernandez surrounded himself by friends is another element that distinguishes him from traditional serial killers, who tend to be loners.

Some have also tried to blame some kind of gang affiliation to his crimes. Again, not likely.

Dr. Carl Taylor, a sociology professor at Michigan State who has studied gang culture for more than 30 years, said his observations of Hernandez’s behavior after his televised arrest and subsequent court hearings last year brought to mind old-school mobsters, an organized crime boss rather than petty criminal.

“This is not simply about gang signs. This is being a gangster at a high level,” Taylor said prior to the two new indictments. “He doesn’t seem to be shaken.”

I would not even credit him as a ‘gangster at a high level.” I think he is just a thug who thinks he is untouchable because he played a sport professionally. He also probably thinks that that will bring him some credit in prison.
I hope not.

20th anniversary of John Wayne Gacy’s death

It’s been 20 years since John Wayne Gacy was put down, I hope that it has been 20 years of suffering.

There is an interesting article about him here.

Chicago’s most notorious serial killer was put to death at Stateville Correctional Center twenty years ago today. One of his Death Row attorneys still feels the way in which her life and career were altered by him and recalls just what a sick, twisted, and funny son of a bitch John Wayne Gacy was.

Like the time Gacy noted he didn’t enjoy movies like most people—he rooted for the bad guys.

One of the things that makes many serial killers so dangerous is that they know how to get you to like them.

Once when Gacy called their home, Joe Conti answered. “You should request strawberries for your last meal, John, you know why?’’

“No, Joe, why?’’ replied Gacy, happy to play along.

“Because they’re out of season.’’

Yet even a father whose profession is humor can’t prepare you for the comedic stylings of John Wayne Gacy.

Like the joke in which Adamski’s sister died and Gacy sent a card with a sensitive and tender message on the front. Inside was a picture of a naked woman in a casket with her legs spread wide. The caption: “We wanted to remember her in death as she was in life.’’

I have to say that IMO joking about a last  meal and a dead sister is different. Both messed up but…..

By the time Gacy lay lifeless from lethal injection, Conti and Adamski had invested more than $400,000 in billable hours (adjusted for inflation) and a good portion of their mental health.

How did they ever expect to collect? I am sure that they took this case for the experience not the money. They had to know that even if he did not get a death sentence he would still be locked up. The article also states that they offered to represent him again at a later time to try to over throw the DP. i really doubt that they ever expected payment, they just wanted to be the ones to represent him.

They were subjected to death threats (none of which were investigated, Conti notes). For years, an unknown man would send Conti disgusting pictures of mutilated bodies, and they were ostracized by people on both sides of the death penalty debate.

I have to wonder if the person that sent pictures was mad that they were representing Gacy. I think that is a sick way to express that but it is possible that there was no direct link to Gacy.

As Gacy’s execution approached he joked he would be at Adamski’s next birthday, a chronological impossibility. Conti got Gacy to record a birthday greeting and then put it on Adamski’s overnight messages the night before his 44th birthday.

“Hi ho, I told you I’d be at your birthday,’’ Gacy’s voice chirped brightly in Adamski’s ear, only moments after he awoke, but months after the execution.

That would not be funny.

It is really a great article.

Richard Hutton found alive.

Death penalty upheld for serial killer William Suff

Another serial killer who really should have been stopped LONG ago.

In 1974 William Suff and his wife at the time beat their 2 MONTH old daughter to death. He was sentenced to 70 years but got out in ten.
>enter sarcasm: Isn’t parole a great thing for baby killers?<

There is very little that can be said about this guy that is ‘good’. I heard that he came across as

grandfatherly, a mild-mannered guy in the courtroom

but look at his track record:

Sept. 25, 1973 – Suff kills 2-month-old daughter, Dijanet. She dies of ruptured liver and numerous broken bones.
April 11, 1974 – Suff and his first wife Teryl convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to 70-year prison terms. Teryl’s conviction later overturned.
Feb. 3, 1984 – Suff paroled from Texas to California.
Oct. 9, 1986 – Suff hired by Riverside County as a warehouse clerk.
March 9, 1987 – Suff discharged from parole but required to continue annual reporting. Jan. 18, 1988 – Body of Lisa Lacik, 21, of San Bernardino, found near Highway 330 in San Bernardino National Forest. Suff is prime suspect but not charged.
January 1989 – Prostitute Rhonda Jetmore attacked in Lake Elsinore. She escapes and reports attack to police, but crime wasn’t linked to serial killings until 1992, when she identifies Suff as her attacker.
June 28, 1989 – Body of Kimberly Lyttle, 28, found in Cottonwood Canyon area.
Dec. 13, 1989 – Body of Christina Leal, 23, found off Goetz Road in Quail Valley area.
Jan. 18, 1990 – Body of Darla Ferguson, 23, found in Cottonwood Canyon area south of Canyon Lake, a half-mile from where Lyttle’s body was found.
Feb. 8, 1990 – Body of Carol Miller, 34, found in Highgrove.
Nov. 6, 1990 – Body of Cheryl Coker, 33, found in northeast Riverside.
Dec. 21, 1990 – Body of Susan Sternfeld, 27, found in dumpster near where Miller and Coker were found.
Jan. 19, 1991 – Body of Kathleen Milne Puckett, 42, found northwest of Lake Elsinore.
April 26, 1991 – Body of Cherie Payseur, 24, found in Riverside.
July 4, 1991 – Body of Sherry Latham, 37, found in Lake Elsinore.
Aug. 16, 1991 – Body of Kelly Hammond, 27, found in Corona.
Sept. 13, 1991 – Body of Catherine McDonald, 30, found in Lake Elsinore.
Oct. 26, 1991 – Suff’s 3-month-old baby, Bridgette, suffers serious injuries in the home and is removed by San Bernardino County authorities.
Oct. 30, 1991 – Body of Delliah Zamora, 35, found in Mira Loma near Highway 60.
Dec. 23, 1991 – Body of Eleanore Ojeda Casares, 39, found in Riverside orange grove, a half-mile from a police station.
Jan. 9, 1992 – Suff is stopped for traffic violation in Riverside. He is questioned and later jailed for failing to report to authorities under Texas parole.
July 28, 1992 – Grand jury indicts Suff on 14 murder counts and one attempted murder count.

Timeline from this very detailed article.

Murderpedia with pictures of victims and more detail into their brutal deaths.

He did not just kill these women, he made them suffer. This is just an example of what he did to 1 of his victims.

The young woman was later identified as 23-year-old Michelle Yvette Gutierrez, a former resident of Corpus Christi, Texas.   An autopsy revealed she suffered severe trauma to the anal and vaginal areas and multiple stab wounds were discovered on her face, chest and buttocks.  Ligature marks on her neck suggested that she had been strangled as the gruesome mutilations took place.  In the end, investigators had a brutal murder on their hands and few clues to follow.

Sadly, this is in California so this piece of crap will probably die of old age before the sentence is fulfilled but at least he is locked up.

Tommy Lynn Sells is finally dead.

I know, I am a bit late to the party but…..

Tommy Lynn Sells was executed by the state of Texas on April 3, 2014.

No tears were shed here, trust me, He was a rapist and a killer who did not care about the age of his victims. He is known to have killed at least 1 four year old boy, a thirteen year old girl and he attempted to kill another young girl, ten years old, but she survived.
He is also suspected to have murdered at least 19 others and he has bragged that he has killed more than 70.

Rot in Hell Tommy.

Capital murder conviction upheld for Saenz

Kimberly_Clark_Saenz

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) –

The Fourth Court of Appeals in San Antonio has upheld a capital murder conviction against Kimberly Clark Saenz, who killed up to five patients by injecting bleach into their blood stream while they were receiving kidney dialysis treatment.

Saenz, 40, filed the appeal, citing jury charge error, insufficiency of evidence, ineffective counsel, improper exclusion of evidence and improper admission of expert testimony.

The three-judge panel denied all five claims and affirmed the court’s judgment.

“The San Antonio Court of Appeals dove into the record deeply,” former District Attorney Clyde Herrington said. “They got a real firm grasp of the facts and looks like they did a real thorough job.”

A jury ruled Saenz guilty of capital murder following a lengthy trial in April 2012. She was accused of five murders in 2008.

In the appeal, Saenz argued the jury charge was erroneous, as it stated the jury did not have to agree which of the five victims Saenz killed, but only that she killed two of the five.

In the opinion written by Chief Justice Catherine Stone, she states the jury unanimously agreed she committed a single offense of capital murder, under the Texas State Penal Code.

The opinion also states there was no showing of ineffective counsel from Saenz’s attorneys.

There is something extra horrid about a nurse or doctor killing people. They are people that we are taught to trust in so many ways, intimate ways. They are also seen as intelligent people so we can not just dismiss them as ‘stupid, crazy’ people. Their titles carry a certain amount of respect which also makes dismissing the crimes harder. If a drifter kills it does not seem like such a violation to the public in general.

Saenz may now appeal her case to the Texas State Court of Appeals.

In my opinion serial killers really get to many appeals. Her victims, Clara Strange, Thelma Metcalf, Garlin Kelley, Cora Bryant and Opal Few had no such chances.

48 Hours update on the Long Island unidentified serial killer

I am glad that there is new information and that the case has not been just let lie. I was worried that since Hurricane Sandy it was just going to lay unsolved.

Sadly there does not seem to be any new leads or information on the 4 girls found murdered in New Jersey. So close to this case.

Joanna Dennehy on trial

Stony-faced serial killer Joanna Dennehy bragged about her killing spree to an alleged accomplice by glibly remarking: “Oops, I did it again.”

A court heard of the chilling admission along with two terrifying accounts of men who survived separate knife attacks by evil Dennehy.

During one of the bloodthirsty assaults, Dennehy told her petrified victim, “I’m going to f***ing kill you” as she repeatedly stabbed him.

A friend of hers also claimed how Dennehy had boasted about killing a total of eight people.

It came to light during the trial of Gary Stretch, 47, and Leslie Layton, 37, who are accused of helping Dennehy, 31.

The twisted mother-of-two has already admitted murdering John Chapman, 56, Lukasz Slaboszewski, 31, and her landlord Kevin Lee, 49.

She stabbed the three men in the heart and dumped their bodies in ditches in Cambridgeshire in late March last year.

MASONS_TALLEST_VILLAIN_02.jpg

Seriously, these are some evil people.

aA retired firefighter told Cambridge crown court how he almost became another victim when she launched an attack on him days later in April.

Robin Bereza told the jury how he had taken his dog for a walk near his home in Hereford when he was targeted at random by Dennehy.

He recalled how a car pulled up behind him and he was stabbed twice.

He added: “I saw the lady with something in her hands. I got worried then, frightened. I said, ‘What are you doing?’

“She said, ‘I want to hurt you. I’m going to f***ing kill you’.”

The husband and father, 68, explained how Dennehy seemed calm throughout the attack, showing no emotion.

He added: “She appeared to stare right through me.”

Another survivor added to this woman’s creepiness and the need for her to be forever removed from any society.

John Rogers described how he also survived a similar attack where he was stabbed repeatedly in the back and the chest while walking his dog, also in Hereford on the same day.

Recalling his assailant’s expression, the 56-year-old said: “She was very matter-of-fact about it all, as if it was something she had to do.

“She didn’t seem to be showing any emotion at all.

“She didn’t seem that she was enjoying herself, she was just going about her business.”

Once she was done stabbing him she stole his dog! I mean talk about adding insult to injury.

She was and is not insane. She knew what she was doing was wrong and went to lengths to hide her crimes even though she later bragged about killing people.

More disturbing details surrounding the case were also revealed in court , including how Dennehy claimed she had dressed one of her victims up in her black sequined dress and made attempts to “make it look like a sexual act”.

Dennehy and Stretch also told Miss Page they had hidden at least one body in a wheelie bin, but that Mr Lee had discovered it.

Miss Page said: “Jo said when Kevin Lee came back he opened up the bin and saw the body – so she had to kill him.”

They covered another body with bleach before leaving it, which Stretch said made the skin look “cracked”.

This trial is still going on. It is a shame that there is no possibility for capital punishment.
I hope that there is some justice for the victims and their families.

Rest in peace Ken Landwehr

Ken Landwehr, the Wichita police commander who helped solve the BTK serial-killer case and many other Wichita homicides, died Monday. He was 59.
Landwehr had battled kidney cancer since shortly before he retired in 2012 from the Wichita Police Department. He commanded the department’s homicide unit for 20 years and led the task force that captured serial killer Dennis Rader – known as BTK – in 2005.
“My heart is broken,” Nola Foulston, the former Sedgwick County district attorney, said Monday. She worked hundreds of homicides with Landwehr.
“Wherever he is now, I hope there is golf, and I know that if there is, he’s shooting under par,” she said.
“Kenny gets a lot of notoriety for catching BTK and a lot of other killers,” said former Wichita police Deputy Chief Tom Stolz. “But Kenny only cared about the victims. That’s something that gets overlooked a lot, something people didn’t know unless they worked with him.
“What drove him was justice for the victims.”

Judge in ‘Grim Sleeper’ serial murder case OKs use of DNA

Article here

Rejecting defense arguments that a suspect in the slayings of 10 women and the attempted murder of an 11th had a reasonable expectation of privacy in the DNA he left on pizzeria plates and utensils, a California judge on Tuesday OK’d the evidence gathered by a police officer who posed as a restaurant busboy.

The ruling by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Kathleen Kennedy helps clear the way for the case against Lonnie Franklin Jr. to proceed toward trial this summer, reports the Los Angeles Times. Franklin, who is about 60 years old, is being held without bail following his arrest in 2010.

The suspect in the case was nicknamed the “Grim Sleeper” because of a seeming years-long hiatus in slayings that took place over a period of over 20 years, according to authorities.

Although his DNA was not initially in a database available to law enforcement, investigators focused on Franklin as a suspect after asking the state to try to match DNA recovered at the crime scenes to individuals in the database who might be a relative of the suspect.

He is not even arguing that it is his DNA only that the cops obtained it the wrong way. I do not care how the cops got his DNA I am just happy that they finally took this bastard off the streets.
