2 Cases Dropped Against Serial Killer Paul Runge (via CBS Chicago)

I understand the premise behind why they dropped them and I know that $$ came into that decision. It bothers me though that he will not be held accountable for these crimes.

UPDATED 08/24/11 11:01 a.m. WHEATON, Ill. (CBS) — DuPage County prosecutors dropped two cases Wednesday against convicted serial killer Paul Runge, because he cannot be sentenced to any greater penalty. 1. The law sucks and doesn’t take into account the victim’s family’s need for JUSTICE and CLOSURE.

  2. I know and that is where my issues are.
Even if they had the families blessings though he should still be held accountable.

    • We have just had a shocking case in Australia. Daniel Morcombe (14) was abducted 7 years ago and they have just found his body. Despite his family believing he was probably murdered, the confirmation of DNA results created a whole new set of emotions for the family, that none of them were prepared for.
I don’t think there can be closure without justice (no matter how forgiving the victim’s family).

This is absolutely outrageous! I know the victim’s parents, both of their daughters were killed by this monster and they cry every single day, for over 15 years now. They have no other children. Where is the justice for them?
How would you feel if these were your daughters and the prosecutors just drop the case?
There ought to be an inquiry. Something is wrong with these prosecutors. First they let his accomplice walk free, then this murderer escapes the prison, then he gets off the death row and now they are not even going to prosecute him!

    • Ana,

I could not imagine my reaction if it was my child that was murdered.

I do think he should be held responsible and made accountable.

I am so sorry or your (and the families) loss,
