Mother of victim is tortured to the end | Herald Scotland

Mother of victim is tortured to the end | Herald Scotland.

Winnie Johnson, 78, died in a hospice in the early morning hours on Saturday August 18th , tragically unaware of the revelation just 24 hours earlier that Brady may have disclosed the location of Keith Bennett’s body in a supposed letter addressed to her to be opened on his death.

Brady, the killer of her 12-year-old son, has always refused to say where he and his lover and accomplice, Myra Hindley, buried him despite decades of pleading from his victim’s grieving mother.

Brady, 74, and Hindley, who died in jail in 2002 aged 60, were responsible for the murders of five youngsters in the 1960s. Most were sexually tortured before being buried on Saddleworth Moor, with Bennett’s body the only one yet to be found.

In a statement on behalf of the family, Keith’s brother, Alan Bennett, said: “She was a much loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and is survived by one younger brother.

“Winnie fought tirelessly for decades to find Keith and give him a Christian burial. Although this was not possible during her lifetime, her family intend to continue this fight now for her and for Keith. We hope that the authorities and the public will support us in this.”

Brady and Hindley were jailed in 1966 for the murders of John Kilbride, 12, Lesley Ann Downey, 10, and Edward Evans, 17. In 1987 the pair finally admitted killing Keith and Pauline Reade, 16, and were taken back to the moor to help police find the remains of the missing victims, but only Pauline’s body was found.

RIP Ms. Johnson

,,,,,,

Brady’s mental health advocate, Jackie Powell, told a Channel 4 documentary to be screened tomorrow night that he gave her a sealed envelope containing a letter to pass to Johnson in the event of his death.

That information was passed to police and Powell, 49, was arrested on Thursday at her home in South Wales, on suspicion of preventing the burial of a body without lawful exercise.

She was released on bail pending further inquiries. It is understood she claims she returned the envelope to Brady before her arrest.

A search of Brady’s quarters at Ashworth Hospital has also failed to uncover the alleged letter.

Johnson’s lawyer John Ainley said Brady still held the key to finding the burial spot: “Despite her personal appeals directly to Brady and via my office, he persistently ignored the wishes of a grieving mother.

“She has died without knowing Keith’s whereabouts and without the opportunity to finally put him at rest in a decent grave.

“It is a truly heartbreaking situation that this opportunity has now been irrevocably lost.”

Martin Bottomley, of Greater Manchester Police’s major and cold case crime unit, paid tribute to Johnson for spending most of her life “courageously fighting to get justice for Keith”.

Ian Brady’s lawyer arrested after serial killer may have revealed location of last victim’s body in Saddleworth Moors | Mancunian Matters

Ian Brady’s lawyer arrested after serial killer may have revealed location of last victim’s body in Saddleworth Moors | Mancunian Matters.

Keith Bennett was 12 years old when he was abducted by Brady and his girlfriend Myra Hindley on June 16 1964 and his body is the only one to have not been found.

The couple buried at least five victims in Saddleworth Moors and officers now believe that Brady has disclosed the location of his last victim to his lawyer.

It is also believed he has written a letter to Keith’s mother Winnie Johnson that is not to be opened until after his death.

Jackie Powell, Brady’s mental health advocate, was arrested in South Wales yesterday – a number of documents were seized from the address and are currently being examined by officers.Martin Bottomley, Head of Investigative Review of Greater Manchester Police’s Major and Cold Case Crime Unit, said: “The Moors murders cast a long and dark shadow over the history of our region but in 2009 we reluctantly concluded there was no longer any specific information to identify new search areas and the investigation to find Keith entered a dormant stage. “However, we have always stressed this is a case we will never close. We have been, and always will be, open to pursuing any new lines of inquiry that arise from significant scientific advances or credible and actionable information. “I want to be explicitly clear about this: Ian Brady has not revealed to police the location of Keith’s body. “What we are looking at is the possibility, and at this stage it is only a possibility, that he has written a letter to Keith’s mum Winnie Johnson which was not to be opened until after his death. We do not know if this is true or simply a ruse but we clearly have a duty to investigate such information on behalf of Keith’s family.”

He just needs to die already.

Moors murderer Ian Brady discharged from hospital – Telegraph

Moors murderer Ian Brady discharged from hospital – Telegraph.

His victims families do not believe he was even actually sick.

Serial killer Brady was discharged after spending two nights in hospital following a suspected seizure.

The 74-year-old was sent back to high-security Ashworth Hospital in Sefton, Merseyside, where he has been held for 27 years.

But last night Alan Bennett — whose brother Keith was killed by Brady in 1964 — insisted it was a cynical attempt to get sympathy ahead of his mental health tribunal next week.

Alan, of Longsight, Greater Manchester, said: “I want to hear about his medical condition from somebody at the hospital before I take this seriously.

“That coward is capable of anything. The timing is perfect if he is hoping to seek some form of sympathy.

Serial Killer Alcala Pleads Not Guilty in NY

“Dating Game” serial killer Rodney Alcala seemed amused Thursday as he left a Manhattan courtroom after pleading not guilty to two murders in Manhattan in the 1970s.

With shackles jangling around his orange prison garb and his gray frizzy curls pulled into a ponytail at the nape of his neck, Alcala, 68, had a slight smile on his face after Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Bonnie Wittner ordered him to be held without bail.

After all, what could New York do to him? California already has him on death row for strangling five females including a 12-year-old girl.

Alacala, aka John Berger, was formally charged with the deaths of Cornelia Crilley, a TWA flight attendant strangled with her pantyhose in her Upper East side apartment, and Ellen Hover, the daughter of a Hollywood nightclub owner, whose body was found on the Rockefeller estate in Pocantico Hills, N.Y.

I am sure that he is enjoying the attention and the new location. The saddest thing is that the article is right, what else can N.Y. do to him?

What the trial can do, hopefully, is give the families some closure and maybe even some peace.

Serial Killer Ivan Milat’s Great Nephew Convicted of Murder

POEMS written by a relative of serial killer Ivan Milat have given a chilling insight into his thinking at the time he killed a teenager in the Belanglo State Forest in NSW.

David Auchterlonie

David Auchterlonie was found murdered in the Belanglo State Forest.

Matthew Milat, 19, and Cohen Klein, 19, are facing a sentencing submission hearing in the Supreme Court over the murder of David Auchterlonie in November 2010.

Court documents tendered during today’s proceedings include several poems penned by Milat, the great-nephew of backpacker murderer Ivan.

In one he writes “clouds roll over in light blue skies/like darkness in a killer’s eyes”.

In another he wrote “I am not fazed by blood or screams/nothing I do will haunt my dreams”.

One is written in a rap style and called “your last day“.

Earlier today, the family of David Auchterlonie told the Supreme Court they remain “terrified” of the knowledge of how he died at the hands of a relative of serial killer Ivan Milat.

Matthew Milat 19, and Cohen Klein 19, have pleaded guilty to the teenager’s murder at the Belanglo State Forest in November 2010.

Also where Ivan Milat killed.

The parents and grandparents of Auchterlonie have today read victim impact statements to the Supreme Court, where the pair are facing a sentencing hearing.

His father David Auchterlonie told Acting Justice Jane Mathews that his son “received a life sentence, but it’s a curse for those of us let behind”.

“I wanted to kiss him goodbye (when they saw his body) but he was a (court) exhibit now,” he said.

His mother Debbie Locke told the court she often wears her son’s jackets and hooded tops to feel close to him.

“I have learnt to live with this agonising pain,” she said.

Acting Justice Jane Mathews formally convicted the pair this morning ahead of a sentencing hearing in the Supreme Court.

Court documents say Milat said in doing the killing he was just “doing what my family does” and that as they ventured towards the bush said “we’re going to Belanglo, someone’s going to die.”

The court heard the murder and 15 minutes of dialogue were captured on Klein’s mobile phone.

The 17-year-old Auchterlonie was killed using an axe, with court documents say Milat hovered over him for 10 minutes before the murder, saying “you move, I chop your head off.”

The hearing continues.

So this pitiful excuse for a human is claiming that he killing is in his blood? Bull! He is a sadistic twerp who is using that as an ‘excuse’ of sorts. He has probably used it his whole life for various reasons. His way to get attention, to intimidate some, impress others. It was his claim to fame.

As I said, pitiful.

From what I have read they tormented and tortured David and really had no reason to. They also recorded it.

These ‘men’ are killers and if they had not been caught this time there would have been more bodies.

The boy coaxed Auchterlonie out of the car and swung the axe into his torso. Mr Day yelled, “Don’t do this shit.” The boy responded, “Shut up, c. . .t.”

Auchterlonie pleaded with the boy, saying: “Please, mate, please, mate, I didn’t do nothing.”

The boy replied, “You’re a f. . . king dead c. . .t, ‘Auchto’.”

He accused Auchterlonie of telling people about money that he stole from his mother’s house, but Auchterlonie denied the accusation. he forced Auchterlonie to lie face down in the dirt. “I warned you that I was a bit of a f. . . king nut lately,” he said. After the final blow, “the sound of the air leaving his body is also captured on the recording”.

Serial Child Killer Dead

Child killer Joseph Kondro dies at state prison

Notorious murderer Joseph Kondro, who was serving a life sentence for raping and killing two Longview girls, died in the state prison at Walla Walla on Thursday of natural causes, state corrections officials reported Friday. He was 52.

In 1999, Kondro was convicted of kidnapping, sexually assaulting and strangling 8-year-old Rima Traxler in 1985 and 12-year-old Kara Rudd in 1996. Authorities also suspected Kondro killed 8-year-old Chila Silvernails of Kalama, who disappeared in April 1982 and was later found dead. But they never developed enough evidence to prove it.

Friday, Kara Rudd’s grandfather said he was “happy” to learn of Kondro’s death, adding that the years since Kara’s murder have been tough on the family.

I am glad that he has closure now.

“He’s burning in hell right now,” said Dennis Rheaume of Longview. “I hope he’s suffered.”

I agree. Serial killers make me hope there is a Hell. They are even my be proof that real evil exists, especially child raping killers.

Police have said they don’t believe an admitted child serial killer could go from 1985 to 1996 without killing, but attempts to connect Kondro with other missing children’s cases have been fruitless.

He actually could go that long, life happens, jobs, relationships, family issues. I agree though, I doubt that he did. I fear that there are more missing babies that he killed.

“I still want to see that death certificate … just to lock up that little bit of fear in my heart that he could do this again,” said Cowlitz County Prosecutor Sue Baur, who participated in the legal proceedings against Kondro.

“I have only twice in 25 years felt the presence of true evil,” Baur continued Friday. “When he and I would look at each other in the courtroom, it was a feeling that there was nothing there in those eyes. … I just never got any shred of humanity from him.”

On Jan. 4, 1997, a search team found 12-year-old Kara Rudd’s body beneath an abandoned car in the woods on Mount Solo, six weeks after her mother reported her missing.

Kondro, then 37, was the prime suspect in her disappearance. He was already in jail, facing charges of witness tampering and first-degree child rape and molestation of three girls, ages 7, 9 and 10.

For two years, Kondro had refused to cooperate with investigators, even though his DNA linked him to Kara’s body. Then, in a bombshell courtroom announcement, Kondro pled guilty to raping and strangling her — and confessed to killing Rima Traxler 14 years earlier. Rima’s remains never have been found.

Kondro, a drug addict and petty thief, had been longtime friends with both victims’ parents and had no trouble luring the girls into his car.

In answering to both crimes, Kondro dodged the death penalty. Superior Court Judge Jim Warme sentenced him to 55 years with no chance of parole at the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla. Kondro never expressed any remorse for his deeds and vowed to kill again, even behind prison walls. He hinted there have been other victims but saw nothing to gain by confessing.

“If you hook up a meter to my emotions, they’re flatline,” he said in a 1999 prison interview with a Daily News reporter. “I don’t know where my emotions are. … I couldn’t give a damn what anybody thinks.”

Friday, Kara’s mother said Kondro’s death was “a big weight lifted off.”

“I know Rima’s mom and us, we lived in horror and terror for a long time. Now it’s finally over,” said Janet Holden, 50, of Longview. “Now we just live our lives as best we can. Not much else we can do.”

If you look (I will not give direct links) there appears to be quite a few online murderabilia sales for him. He obviously liked the attention he received for being a baby murderer / rapist.

There is an interview with this POS that reveals much about him.

WALLA WALLA — He tells his story casually, between yawns, revealing unspeakable horrors the way most people talk about the weather.

Joe Kondro, shackled at the wrists, rests a chin on his big hands as he tells how he used them to rape and kill a little girl, and get away with it for a dozen years.

Get away with it long enough to do it again.

And if he had a second chance, he says, he wouldn’t be in this small room being watched so intently by armed guards.

If he could change just one thing, Kondro says, he would’ve been more careful in hiding his final victim’s body. Then, he’d be free now to rape and kill again.

Much more here!

No tears shed and I hope he felt himself die, painfully.

I hope the families find some kind of peace from his death.

Cuffe Parade Murder(s)

Note: This is actually about 3 children that were murdered. Their cases may or maynot be connected. Still waiting on more information.

Cuffe Parade murder case: Mumbai Police fail to make headway

Mahima Sikand

MUMBAI: The police, probing the rape and murder of a three-year-old girl whose body was found floating in the sea near Maker Towers in Cuffe Parade, seem to have hit a dead end. The footage obtained from CCTVs installed in and around Maker Towers has not shed any light on the identity of the killer. Said a senior officer involved with the probe, said on Tuesday that the police had checked footage from the area from the time the victim went missing late last Wednesday till her body was discovered the next morning.

“We checked the footage closely, but couldn’t spot anyone coming and dumping the body in the sea.” We will check how the accused managed to go undetected,” he said.

Such a sad case. They might be looking at a family member (seems dad is most suspected) or family friend. I do not think that they have said for sure that this option has become a dead end.

Cuffe Parade murder: Killer removed bulb before abducting kid

Article

DNA / Preety Acharya / Saturday, April 21, 2012 8:00 IST

In the incident of rape and murder of the two-and-a-half Angel Sharma at Cuffe Parade, the killer apparently had the bulb in the house removed before kidnapping the baby, apparently to avoid detection.

Police are now taking fingerprints of Angel’s grandmother Rani, uncle Albert Fernandis, step-father Ashok Jadhav, grandfather James Fernandis and a few other neighbours. Confirming this, a officer from the the Cuffe Parade police said, “We are taking fingerprints of the people who had access to the child as well as those living close to the Fernandes home. We will match the fingerprints with those found on the bulb.”

The police suspect there is a big chance of some known person being involved in kidnapping the minor from her house. In fact, they interrogated Ashok and James for over 48 hours besides taking their DNA samples. Apart from checking the phone call records of all the male family members, the police have taken the DNA samples of nearly 20 other people, including relatives and neighbours. All 20 were first taken to the Colaba police and then to Nagpada police hospital before being taken to JJ Hospital for a medical check-up.

“As the child was raped, we will be checking for any matching of the DNA samples to identify the killer,” added the officer.

Mother of the deceased Suzan Sharma, however, has claimed harassment at the hands of the police. “I have already lost my daughter, and now the police are harassing me by not allowing my husband and father to go free. We don’t have an issue with the police collecting DNA samples as they are doing it for my daughter. But why torture my husband even before the results are out. On Thursday night, they beat up my father very badly,” she complained.

I have to wonder why they suspected the father, is it just because that does happen or was there another reason. Again, I don’t think this angle has been dismissed completley yet. I guess the DNA results will tell about the rape but not the kidnapping.

There are other reports that believe that there is a serial killer on the loose with 2 other little girls being murdered in the same way.

Joshua Patnigere

Mumbai : Having initially suspected the father of 3-year-old Angel Sharma for murdering her, officers part of the joint investigating team of the Colaba and Cuffe Parade Police on Saturday said the killer wanted for murdering two other girls in the area may be responsible for her murder as well.

Ambedkar Nagar resident Angel had gone missing from her house around 2 am on Thursday. Her body was found near the sea line close to Maker Tower L in Cuffe Parade around 8.30 am the same day. Post-mortem reports revealed that Angel had been raped and then strangled.

A joint team of officers from Colaba and Cuffe Parade police are probing the earlier murders of two minor girls from the area. The victims — Colaba resident Karishma Chavan and Cuffe Parade resident Jagruti Patel — were found dead near the Nariman Point Fire Brigade Depot. While Jagruti was found dead on November 13 last year, Karishma was found dead on January 18. Both girls were around three years old.

The police had said both murders could be the handiwork of the same person as the victims had died of a fatal blow to the head. However, no arrests have been made yet in either case.

An officer part of the investigation said there were many similarities in the cases. “Jagruti was kidnapped on October 20 and then killed. Karishma was found dead on January 18 and Angel was found murdered on April 19. The time between all three murders is nearly three months. This may not be a coincidence considering that the victims are all girls in the 3-4 age group,” said the officer.

The officer said, “All three victims either stayed with their grandmothers or were with them when they went missing. Jagruti stayed with her grandmother, but was with her parents on the fateful night. Karishma was kidnapped from Sassoon Docks in Colaba on January 17 when she was with her grandmother. Angel was kidnapped while she was sleeping next to her grandmother. There is a possibility that the killer prefers such victims,” the officer said, adding that the suspect may be a local.

However, the officer added that if the same killer was involved, he strayed from his pattern when murdering Angel.

“The first two victims died of head injuries but Angel was strangled. The first two bodies were found in a secluded spot, while Angel’s body was found near the sea. The killer may have strayed from his pattern because of police presence near the crime scene,” the officer said.

Meanwhile, the police sent Angel’s father along with several other suspects to seek their DNA tests.

Is it sad that I hope that it wasn’t the father? That I would actually think in my head, “please let it be anyone other than the parent”?

RIP little girls and I hope that this is sorted out soon and that the killer rapist of these children is brought to swift, painful justice.

Serial Killer Murdered Women on 9th of Every Month Arrested

Karachi

The police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a serial killer, who has allegedly killed two women and a girl after sexually assaulting them during the last few months.

He would dismember the bodies of his victims and dump the pieces in different parts of the city. The police also claimed that serial killer, Rafiq Soomro would commit his crimes on a particular date, the 9th of every month.

A rickshaw driver, Soomro picked his victims from roads as passengers and took them to his house in Patel Para, where he raped them before strangulating them to death. After the murder, he used a knife to cut the bodies into pieces.

SP Jamshed Town Abdul Salam said that they arrested Soomro during a raid in Darban Bazar in Patel Para. During the initial interrogation, the suspect disclosed that he kidnapped woman who traveled alone in his rickshaw . Soomro allegedly told the police that he, along with his friend Iqbal alias Puppu, first gang-raped the kidnapped women and then strangulated them. Then, they would cut their bodies into pieces, packed them in gunny bags and dumped them in various parts of the city.

The SP said that Soomro had admitted to killing one young girl in Sukkur and two women in Karachi. According to the suspect, he had dumped the body parts of the women in Jamshed Road, Grumandar, Soldier Bazar, Mazar-e-Quaid and MA Jinnah Road.

The SP said that Soomro hailed from Sukkur and had previously been arrested in a sexual harassment and murder case of a nine-year-old girl. One of Soomro’s victims was 39-year-old Nasreen. After murdering her, the suspect made a mistake – he made a call from the woman’s cell phone. It was then the police traced Soomro.

The police said the mother of five, a resident of Quaidabad, had been kidnapped by Soomro from Mazar-e-Quaid.The SP claimed that the alleged killer suffered from some psychological disorder as there was no apparent motive behind his crimes. Also, there is a pattern in the execution of murders - he killed the women on 9th of every month, the official said.

Commenting on the arrest of Soomro, the psychiatrists said people with “sadistic personalities” could commit such crimes just for thrill or pleasure. Dr Saeed Akhar, a renowned psychiatrist associated with a public psychiatric hospital in Karachi, said anti-social personality disorder could be one of the conditions in which a person could commit murders in a specific manner and pattern, like targeting a particular section of society.

But in most of the cases in Pakistan, such people commit crimes just for thrill and pleasure, to satisfy their sadistic desires and have no remorse on their acts,” he said, adding that the identification of such disorders was possible.

The expert was of the opinion that in societies where people had no fear for punishment, the rate of such crimes was high as criminals believed that they would get away with their acts of crime.

Another Psychiatrist and head of the JPMC’s psychiatry department Dr Iqbal Afridi was of the view that personality and psychotic disorders could lead a person to commit anti-social activities, including gruesome murders, but it was not difficult to diagnose such conditions.

“People become psychopath due to certain mental disorders, including the anti-social personality disorder or psychotic disorders, but that can be diagnosed easily with the help of tools and assessments,” he said, adding that the British law even described such mental conditions. According to him, the disorder was difficult to treat.

Fundraiser to Boost Reward in Long Island Serial Killer Case

The Day – Fundraiser to boost reward in Long Island serial killer case | News from southeastern Connecticut.

Some friendships are born through shared hobbies, mutual friends or professions. For Missy Cann and Lorraine Ela, it was a tragic loss that brought them together.

Cann’s sister, 25-year-old Maureen Brainard-Barnes, of Norwich, and Ela’s daughter, 22-year-old Megan Waterman, of Scarborough, Maine, are believed to be victims of a killer dubbed the “Long Island serial killer,” or “Gilgo killer.”

Ela is traveling from South Portland, Maine, to Norwich and will stay with Cann to attend a fundraiser Saturday in Colchester. The event will feature stunt motorcycle riding, a magician, live music and other entertainment, with the goal of boosting the $25,000 reward that Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering.

Police have not provided the women with any information about the crime other than that the victims were asphyxiated and wrapped in burlap bags.

“I’m hoping that the extra money will provide an incentive to come forward,” Cann said. “I believe the person who will come forward will be in the same business as the girls. This person is afraid and will probably need money to start over.”

Really can’t find more information so if anyone has more please let me know.
